Strong Girls 5K is a Big Win

SHARE

Friends, families, and organizations from across Huntsville and Madison County came together for a morning of fitness and fun at the annual Girls Inc. of Huntsville Strong Girls 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. The 5K race, sponsored by Fleet Feet Huntsville, had over 160 runners of all ages, from the Jemison High School Lady Jaguars basketball team to the Westin Huntsville hotel group. Brenda Armstrong of Edward Jones Financial served as our Fun Run sponsor, which included spraying the runners and volunteers with water at the start and finish lines.

The Girls Inc. Running Club trained for the race in the weeks leading up to the event, and are coached by junior staff member and high school track runner Kaitlyn Walker. The girls, along with some of the 5K participants, joined in a pre-race yoga session with Sage Wellness Studio to prepare for the race. We were also joined by local organizations Profit Wise Accounting, Advance America, State Farm agent Amanda Suciu, Girls on the Run, We Run Huntsville and many more.

Awards were presented by Fun Run sponsor Brenda Armstrong and Strong Girl Race Ambassador Joselyn Kirstein. Joselyn, of HomeFit Fitness Consulting, helped train the girls and get the word out about the race. Race results are available on the Huntsville Track Club website.

Congratulations to all of the winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who supported this great event!
